Divpadsmit mācekļi
(Mt 10:5–15Mk 6:6b–13)1 Saaicinājis divpadsmit mācekļus, Jēzus deva tiem spēku un varu pār visiem dēmoniem un dziedināt no slimībām 2 un nosūtīja viņus sludināt Dieva valstību un ārstēt slimos. 3 Viņš tiem sacīja: “Neņemiet sev ceļā līdzi nedz spieķi, nedz somu, nedz maizi, nedz naudu, nedz divi svārkus. 4 Kurā namā jūs ieiesiet, tur arī palieciet, un no turienes dodieties tālāk. 5 Un, ja kādi jūs neuzņems, tad, izejot no tās pilsētas, nokratiet putekļus no savām kājām par liecību pret tiem.” 6 Tad tie aizgāja un devās no ciema uz ciemu, sludinādami visur prieka vēsti un dziedinādami.
Hēroda satraukums
(Mt 14:1–12Mk 6:14–29)7 Tetrarhs Hērods dzirdēja visu, kas notika, un bija nesaprašanā, jo daži sacīja: “Jānis ir uzcēlies no mirušajiem,” 8 citi atkal: “Elija ir parādījies,” vēl citi: “Kāds no senajiem praviešiem ir augšāmcēlies.” 9 Hērods sacīja: “Jānim es nocirtu galvu. Bet kas tad ir šis, par kuru dzirdu tādas lietas?” Un viņš meklēja iespēju to redzēt.
Piecu tūkstošu paēdināšana
(Mt 14:13–21Mk 6:30–44Jņ 6:1–14)10 Apustuļi atgriezušies stāstīja viņam visu, ko bija darījuši. Tad viņš ņēma tos sev līdzi un devās pa savrupu ceļu uz pilsētu, vārdā Bētsaīda. 11 Ļaužu pūļi, to uzzinājuši, sekoja viņam. Viņš tos pieņēma un runāja tiem par Dieva valstību, un darīja veselus tos, kam bija vajadzīga dziedināšana. 12 Diena jau sliecās uz vakaru, kad tie divpadsmit piegāja pie viņa un sacīja: “Atlaid ļaudis, lai tie dodas uz apkārtējiem ciemiem un mājām, kur varētu pārnakšņot un dabūt kaut ko ēdamu, jo mēs šeit esam nomaļā vietā.” 13 Bet viņš tiem sacīja: “Dodiet jūs viņiem ēst.” Tie sacīja: “Mums nav vairāk kā piecas maizes un divas zivis. Vai lai ejam pirkt ēdamo visiem šiem ļaudīm?” 14 Jo to bija ap pieci tūkstoši vīru. Bet viņš mācekļiem sacīja: “Lieciet tiem apsēsties zemē pulkos pa piecdesmit.” 15 Viņi tā izdarīja un lika visiem apsēsties. 16 Tad viņš ņēma tās piecas maizes un divas zivis un, pacēlis acis uz debesīm, pateicās un lauza tās un deva mācekļiem, lai tie tās pasniegtu ļaudīm. 17 Visi ēda un bija sāti, un no pāri palikušajiem maizes gabaliem salasīja divpadsmit grozus.
Pētera liecība par Kristu
(Mt 16:13–19Mk 8:27–29)18 Reiz, kad viņš vientuļā vietā lūdza Dievu un arī mācekļi bija ar viņu, viņš tos izjautāja: “Ko ļaudis runā par mani – kas es esmu?” 19 Tie atbildēja: “Jānis Kristītājs, bet citi – Elija, vēl citi – kāds no senajiem praviešiem esot augšāmcēlies.” 20 Tad viņš jautāja: “Bet ko jūs sakāt – kas es esmu?” Pēteris atbildēja: “Dieva Svaidītais .”
Jēzus māca par savu nāvi un augšāmcelšanos
(Mt 16:20–28Mk 8:30–9:1)21 Bet viņš tos apsauca, piekodinādams nevienam to nestāstīt, 22 un teica: “Cilvēka Dēlam būs daudz jācieš, jātiek vecajo un virspriesteru, un rakstu mācītāju atmestam un nonāvētam, un trešajā dienā tam būs augšāmcelties.” 23 Tad viņš visiem sacīja: “Ja kāds grib man sekot, tas lai aizliedz sevi, lai ņem savu krustu ik dienas un seko man. 24 Jo, kas savu dzīvību grib glābt, tas to zaudēs, bet, kas savu dzīvību manis dēļ zaudēs, tas to izglābs. 25 Kāds ieguvums cilvēkam, ka viņš iemanto visu pasauli, bet sevi pašu pazudina vai nodara sev ļaunumu? 26 Kas būs kaunējies manis un manu vārdu dēļ, tā dēļ kaunēsies Cilvēka Dēls, kad viņš nāks savā un sava Tēva, un svēto eņģeļu godībā. 27 Patiesi es jums saku: daži no šeit stāvošajiem nāvi nebaudīs, iekams nebūs redzējuši Dieva valstību.”
Apskaidrošana kalnā
(Mt 17:1–8Mk 9:2–8)28 Pēc kādām astoņām dienām, kad Jēzus bija šos vārdus sacījis, viņš ņēma sev līdzi Pēteri un Jāni, un Jēkabu un uzkāpa kalnā Dievu lūgt. 29 Un, viņam lūdzot, viņa vaigs mainījās un viņa drēbes tapa mirdzoši baltas. 30 Un, redzi, divi vīri ar viņu sarunājās – tie bija Mozus un Elija. 31 Tie, parādījušies godībā, runāja par viņa aiziešanu, kam bija jānotiek Jeruzālemē. 32 Pēteris un viņa biedri bija miega pārņemti, bet pamodušies tie ieraudzīja viņa godību un abus vīrus pie viņa stāvam. 33 Kad tie jau grasījās aiziet no viņa, Pēteris, nesaprazdams, ko viņš runā, teica Jēzum: “Mācītāj, te mums ir labi, taisīsim trīs teltis, vienu tev, vienu Mozum un vienu Elijam.” 34 Kamēr Pēteris to teica, uznāca padebesis un viņus apēnoja; un mācekļus pārņēma izbailes, kad tos apņēma mākonis. 35 Un no padebeša atskanēja balss: “Šis ir mans izredzētais Dēls, klausiet viņu!” 36 Kad šī balss atskanēja, Jēzus jau bija palicis viens. Un viņi klusēja un tanīs dienās nevienam neko nestāstīja par redzēto.
Jēzus atbrīvo zēnu no nešķīstā gara
(Mt 17:14–18Mk 9:14–27)37 Nākamajā dienā, kad viņi nokāpa no kalna, tiem pretī nāca liels ļaužu pūlis. 38 Un kāds vīrs no pūļa sauca: “Skolotāj, es lūdzu tevi, apskati manu dēlu, viņš man ir vienīgais. 39 Redzi, kāds gars to sagrābj un liek pēkšņi kliegt, un krata viņu līdz putām, un atkāpjas tikai, kad ir to galīgi novārdzinājis. 40 Es esmu lūdzis tavus mācekļus, lai tie garu izdzen, bet viņi to nespēja.” 41 Jēzus atbildēja: “Ak tu neticīgā un samaitātā paaudze! Cik ilgi vēl es pie jums būšu un jūs pacietīšu! Ved šurp savu dēlu!” 42 Viņam nākot, dēmons sāka to plosīt un raustīt. Jēzus apsauca nešķīsto garu un darīja zēnu veselu un atdeva tēvam. 43a Un visi apjuka Dieva varenības priekšā.
Jēzus vēlreiz māca par savu nāvi un augšāmcelšanos
(Mt 17:22–23Mk 9:30–32)43b Kamēr visi vēl brīnījās par to, ko Jēzus bija darījis, viņš mācekļiem sacīja: 44 “Paturiet prātā šos vārdus: Cilvēka Dēls tiks nodots cilvēku rokās.” 45 Bet viņi nesaprata šos vārdus; tie palika viņiem apslēpti, un tie tos neaptvēra, un viņi baidījās jautāt viņam par šiem vārdiem.
Lielākais Debesu valstībā
(Mt 18:1–5Mk 9:33–37)46 Tad tie sāka pārrunāt, kurš viņu vidū būtu lielākais. 47 Bet Jēzus zināja viņu sirds domas un, paņēmis kādu bērniņu, nostādīja to sev blakus 48 un sacīja tiem: “Ja kāds šo bērniņu uzņem manā vārdā, tas uzņem mani. Ja kāds mani uzņem, tas uzņem to, kas mani sūtījis. Jo mazākais jūsu vidū ir tas lielākais.”
“Kas nav pret jums, tas ir ar jums!”
(Mk 9:38–40)49 Jānis vērsās pie viņa un sacīja: “Mācītāj, mēs redzējām kādu, kas tavā vārdā izdzina dēmonus, un mēs viņam to aizliedzām, jo viņš neseko mums.” 50 Bet Jēzus tam sacīja: “Neliedziet gan! Kas nav pret jums, tas ir ar jums!”
Samarieši atsakās uzņemt Jēzu
51 Kad sāka piepildīties laiks tikt uzņemtam debesīs, viņš droši vērsa savu vaigu uz Jeruzālemi, lai dotos turp. 52 Un viņš sūtīja sev pa priekšu vēstnešus. Tie devās ceļā un iegāja kādā samariešu ciemā, lai sagatavotu viņam naktsmājas. 53 Bet samarieši viņu neuzņēma, jo viņš devās uz Jeruzālemi. 54 To redzēdami, mācekļi Jānis un Jēkabs sacīja: “Kungs, vai gribi, lai pavēlam ugunij nākt no debesīm un tos iznīcināt, kā arī Elija darīja?” 55 Jēzus pagriezies tos apsauca . Tad viņi gāja uz citu ciemu.
Par Jēzus sekotājiem
(Mt 8:19–22)57 Tiem ejot pa ceļu, kāds viņam sacīja: “Es sekošu tev, lai kurp tu ietu.” 58 Jēzus tam teica: “Lapsām ir alas un debesu putniem ligzdas, bet Cilvēka Dēlam nav kur galvu nolikt.” 59 Un citam viņš teica: “Seko man!” Bet tas sacīja: “Kungs, ļauj man vispirms aiziet un apglabāt savu tēvu.” 60 Bet viņš tam sacīja: “Ļauj miroņiem apglabāt savus miroņus, bet tu ej un sludini Dieva valstību!” 61 Vēl kāds cits sacīja: “Es sekošu tev, Kungs, bet ļauj vispirms man atvadīties no saviem mājiniekiem.” 62 Bet Jēzus tam teica: “Neviens, kas savu roku uzlicis uz arkla un skatās atpakaļ, neder Dieva valstībai.”
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples
(Matthew 10.5-15Mark 6.7-13)1 Jesus called the twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases. 2 Then he sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick, 3 after saying to them, “Take nothing with you for the trip: no walking stick, no beggar's bag, no food, no money, not even an extra shirt. 4 Wherever you are welcomed, stay in the same house until you leave that town; 5 wherever people don't welcome you, leave that town and shake the dust off your feet as a warning to them.”
6 The disciples left and traveled through all the villages, preaching the Good News and healing people everywhere.
Herod's Confusion
(Matthew 14.1-12Mark 6.14-29)7 When Herod, the ruler of Galilee, heard about all the things that were happening, he was very confused, because some people were saying that John the Baptist had come back to life. 8 Others were saying that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life. 9 Herod said, “I had John's head cut off; but who is this man I hear these things about?” And he kept trying to see Jesus.
Jesus Feeds Five Thousand
(Matthew 14.13-21Mark 6.30-44John 6.1-14)10 The apostles came back and told Jesus everything they had done. He took them with him, and they went off by themselves to a town named Bethsaida. 11 When the crowds heard about it, they followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them about the Kingdom of God, and healed those who needed it.
12 When the sun was beginning to set, the twelve disciples came to him and said, “Send the people away so that they can go to the villages and farms around here and find food and lodging, because this is a lonely place.”
13 But Jesus said to them, “You yourselves give them something to eat.”
They answered, “All we have are five loaves and two fish. Do you want us to go and buy food for this whole crowd?” 14 (There were about five thousand men there.)
Jesus said to his disciples, “Make the people sit down in groups of about fifty each.”
15 After the disciples had done so, 16 Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up to heaven, thanked God for them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and had enough, and the disciples took up twelve baskets of what was left over.
Peter's Declaration about Jesus
(Matthew 16.13-19Mark 8.27-29)18 One day when Jesus was praying alone, the disciples came to him. “Who do the crowds say I am?” he asked them.
19 “Some say that you are John the Baptist,” they answered. “Others say that you are Elijah, while others say that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”
20 “What about you?” he asked them. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are God's Messiah.”
Jesus Speaks about His Suffering and Death
(Matthew 16.20-28Mark 8.30—9.1)21 Then Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell this to anyone. 22 He also told them, “The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will be raised to life.”
23 And he said to them all, “If you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, take up your cross every day, and follow me. 24 For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 Will you gain anything if you win the whole world but are yourself lost or defeated? Of course not! 26 If you are ashamed of me and of my teaching, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of you when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 I assure you that there are some here who will not die until they have seen the Kingdom of God.”
The Transfiguration
(Matthew 17.1-8Mark 9.2-8)28 About a week after he had said these things, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a hill to pray. 29 While he was praying, his face changed its appearance, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30 Suddenly two men were there talking with him. They were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in heavenly glory and talked with Jesus about the way in which he would soon fulfill God's purpose by dying in Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were sound asleep, but they woke up and saw Jesus' glory and the two men who were standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not really know what he was saying.)
34 While he was still speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow; and the disciples were afraid as the cloud came over them. 35 A voice said from the cloud, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen—listen to him!”
36 When the voice stopped, there was Jesus all alone. The disciples kept quiet about all this and told no one at that time anything they had seen.
Jesus Heals a Boy with an Evil Spirit
(Matthew 17.14-18Mark 9.14-27)37 The next day Jesus and the three disciples went down from the hill, and a large crowd met Jesus. 38 A man shouted from the crowd, “Teacher! I beg you, look at my son—my only son! 39 A spirit attacks him with a sudden shout and throws him into a fit, so that he foams at the mouth; it keeps on hurting him and will hardly let him go! 40 I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they couldn't.”
41 Jesus answered, “How unbelieving and wrong you people are! How long must I stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you?” Then he said to the man, “Bring your son here.”
42 As the boy was coming, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into a fit. Jesus gave a command to the evil spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43 All the people were amazed at the mighty power of God.
Jesus Speaks Again about His Death
(Matthew 17.22Matthew 23Mark 9.30-32)The people were still marveling at everything Jesus was doing, when he said to his disciples, 44 “Don't forget what I am about to tell you! The Son of Man is going to be handed over to the power of human beings.” 45 But the disciples did not know what this meant. It had been hidden from them so that they could not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about the matter.
Who Is the Greatest?
(Matthew 18.1-5Mark 9.33-37)46 An argument broke out among the disciples as to which one of them was the greatest. 47 Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he took a child, stood him by his side, 48 and said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name, welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, also welcomes the one who sent me. For the one who is least among you all is the greatest.”
Whoever Is Not against You Is for You
(Mark 9.38-40)49 John spoke up, “Master, we saw a man driving out demons in your name, and we told him to stop, because he doesn't belong to our group.”
50 “Do not try to stop him,” Jesus said to him and to the other disciples, “because whoever is not against you is for you.”
A Samaritan Village Refuses to Receive Jesus
51 As the time drew near when Jesus would be taken up to heaven, he made up his mind and set out on his way to Jerusalem. 52 He sent messengers ahead of him, who went into a village in Samaria to get everything ready for him. 53 But the people there would not receive him, because it was clear that he was on his way to Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”
55 Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then Jesus and his disciples went on to another village.
The Would-Be Followers of Jesus
(Matthew 8.19-22)57 As they went on their way, a man said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
58 Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lie down and rest.”
59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But that man said, “Sir, first let me go back and bury my father.”
60 Jesus answered, “Let the dead bury their own dead. You go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”
61 Someone else said, “I will follow you, sir; but first let me go and say good-bye to my family.”
62 Jesus said to him, “Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God.”
