Kalna runa
(Mt 5–7)1 Redzēdams ļaužu pūli, Jēzus uzkāpa kalnā un apsēdās, un viņa mācekļi sapulcējās ap viņu. 2 Un viņš sāka tos mācīt, sacīdams:
Par laimīgajiem
(Lk 6:20–23)3 “Laimīgi garā nabagie, jo viņiem pieder Debesu valstība. 4 Laimīgi apbēdinātie, jo viņus mierinās. 5 Laimīgi lēnprātīgie, jo viņi mantos zemi. 6 Laimīgi izsalkušie un izslāpušie pēc taisnības, jo Dievs viņiem papilnam to dos. 7 Laimīgi žēlsirdīgie, jo Dievs būs viņiem žēlsirdīgs. 8 Laimīgi sirdsšķīstie, jo viņi Dievu redzēs. 9 Laimīgi miera nesēji, jo viņi tiks saukti par Dieva bērniem. 10 Laimīgi taisnības dēļ vajātie, jo viņiem pieder Debesu valstība. 11 Laimīgi jūs esat, ja jūs manis dēļ lamās un vajās, un runās visu ļaunu par jums. 12 Priecājieties un gavilējiet – jūsu alga ir liela debesīs. Tāpat tie vajāja arī praviešus, kas bija pirms jums.
Zemes sāls un pasaules gaisma
(Mk 9:50Lk 14:34–35)13 Jūs esat zemes sāls, bet, ja sāls kļūst nederīga, ar ko lai to padara sāļu? Tā neder vairs nekam kā vien ārā izmešanai, lai cilvēki to samītu. 14 Jūs esat pasaules gaisma: pilsēta, kas atrodas kalnā, nevar būt apslēpta. 15 Gaismekli iededzis, neviens to neliek zem pūra, bet lukturī; un tas spīd visiem, kas ir namā. 16 Tāpat lai jūsu gaisma spīd cilvēku priekšā, tā ka tie redz jūsu labos darbus un godā jūsu Tēvu, kas ir debesīs.
Par bauslību
17 Nedomājiet, ka es esmu nācis atmest bauslību vai praviešus, es neesmu nācis tos atmest, bet piepildīt. 18 Jo patiesi es jums saku: iekams debesis un zeme zudīs, pat vismazākais burts vai rakstu zīme no bauslības nezudīs, līdz tas viss notiks. 19 Kas atmetīs kaut vienu no šiem vismazākajiem baušļiem un tā mācīs cilvēkus, tas tiks saukts par vismazāko Debesu valstībā, bet, kas tos pildīs un mācīs, tas tiks saukts par varenu Debesu valstībā. 20 Jo es jums saku: ja jūsu taisnība nav pārāka par rakstu mācītāju un farizeju taisnību, tad jūs neieiesiet Debesu valstībā.
Par slepkavību un dusmām
21 Jūs esat dzirdējuši, ka tēvutēviem ir sacīts: nenogalini , un, kas nogalina, tas nododams tiesai. 22 Bet es jums saku: ikviens, kas uz savu brāli dusmojas, nododams tiesai; ikviens, kas uz savu brāli saka: nejēga, – nododams sinedrijam, bet, kas uz savu brāli saka: stulbais bezdievi, – tas nododams elles ugunīs. 23 Tādēļ, kad tu atnes savu upurdāvanu pie altāra un tur atceries, ka tavam brālim ir kaut kas pret tevi, 24 tad atstāj savu upurdāvanu altāra priekšā, ej un izlīgsti vispirms ar savu brāli un tad pienes savu upurdāvanu. 25 Nevilcinies izlīgt ar savu pretinieku, kamēr ar viņu vēl esi ceļā, ka tavs pretinieks tevi nenodod tiesnesim un tiesnesis tiesas izpildītājam un ka tas tevi neiemet cietumā. 26 Patiesi es tev saku: tu no turienes neiziesi, pirms nenomaksāsi pēdējo kvadrantu.
Par laulības pārkāpšanu
27 Jūs esat dzirdējuši, ka ir sacīts: nepārkāp laulību . 28 Bet es jums saku: ikviens, kas uzlūko sievieti ar iekāri, jau ir pārkāpis laulību ar viņu savā sirdī. 29 Bet, ja tava labā acs tevi apgrēcina, izrauj to un met projām, jo labāk tev ir zaudēt vienu savu locekli, nekā visa tava miesa tiek iemesta ellē. 30 Un, ja tava labā roka tevi apgrēcina, nocērt to un met projām, jo labāk tev zaudēt vienu savu locekli, nekā visa tava miesa nonāk ellē.
Par laulības šķiršanu
(Mk 10:4, Mk 11–12Lk 16:18)31 Tāpat ir sacīts: kas atlaiž savu sievu, lai dod viņai šķiršanās rakstu . 32 Bet es jums saku: ikviens, kas atlaiž savu sievu, izņemot viņas netiklības dēļ, spiež viņu pārkāpt laulību; un, kas šķirtu prec, tas pārkāpj laulību.
Par zvērestu
33 Jūs vēl esat dzirdējuši, ka tēvutēviem sacīts: nelauz zvērestu, un pildi, ko Kungam esi zvērējis . 34 Bet es jums saku: jums vispār nebūs zvērēt – nedz pie debesīm, jo tās ir Dieva tronis, 35 nedz pie zemes, jo tā ir viņa kājsols, nedz pie Jeruzālemes, jo tā ir lielā Ķēniņa pilsēta. 36 Nezvēri arī pie savas galvas, jo tu nevari pat vienu matu padarīt baltu vai melnu. 37 Lai jūsu vārdi ir: jā, jā! un: nē, nē! – kas pāri pār to, tas ir no ļaunā.
Par atriebību
(Lk 6:29–30)38 Jūs esat dzirdējuši, ka ir sacīts: aci pret aci un zobu pret zobu . 39 Bet es jums saku: nestājieties pretim ļaunumam; ja kāds tev sit pa labo vaigu, tam pagriez arī otru. 40 Kas grib ar tevi tiesāties un ņemt tavu kreklu, tam atdod arī virsdrēbes. 41 Ja kāds tevi spiež iet vienu jūdzi, paej ar to divas. 42 Dod tam, kas tevi lūdz, un nenovērsies no tā, kas no tevis grib aizņemties.
Mīlestība pret ienaidnieku
(Lk 6:27–28, Lk 32–36)43 Jūs esat dzirdējuši, ka ir sacīts: mīli savu tuvāko un nīsti savu ienaidnieku. 44 Bet es jums saku: mīliet savus ienaidniekus un lūdziet par tiem, kas jūs vajā, 45 ka jūs topat sava debesu Tēva bērni; jo viņš liek saulei uzlēkt pār ļauniem un labiem un lietum līt pār taisniem un netaisniem. 46 Ja jūs mīlat tos, kas jūs mīl, kāda alga jums nākas? Vai arī muitnieki nedara tāpat? 47 Ja jūs sveicināt vienīgi savus brāļus, ko gan īpašu jūs darāt? Vai arī pagāni nedara tāpat? 48 Tad nu topiet pilnīgi, kā jūsu debesu Tēvs ir pilnīgs.
The Sermon on the Mount
1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the side of a mountain and sat down.
Blessings
(Luke 6.20-23)Jesus' disciples gathered around him, 2 and he taught them:
3 God blesses those people
who depend only on him.
They belong to the kingdom
of heaven!
4 God blesses those people
who grieve.
They will find comfort!
5 God blesses those people
who are humble.
The earth will belong
to them!
6 God blesses those people
who want to obey him
more than to eat or drink.
They will be given
what they want!
7 God blesses those people
who are merciful.
They will be treated
with mercy!
8 God blesses those people
whose hearts are pure.
They will see him!
9 God blesses those people
who make peace.
They will be called
his children!
10 God blesses those people
who are treated badly
for doing right.
They belong to the kingdom
of heaven.
11 God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. 12 Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.
Salt and Light
(Mark 9.50Luke 14.34Luke 35)13 You are the salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.
14 You are the light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15 and no one lights a lamp and puts it under a clay pot. Instead, it is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. 16 Make your light shine, so others will see the good you do and will praise your Father in heaven.
The Law of Moses
17 Don't suppose I came to do away with the Law and the Prophets. I did not come to do away with them, but to give them their full meaning. 18 Heaven and earth may disappear. But I promise you not even a period or comma will ever disappear from the Law. Everything written in it must happen.
19 If you reject even the least important command in the Law and teach others to do the same, you will be the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and teach others its commands, you will have an important place in the kingdom. 20 You must obey God's commands better than the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law obey them. If you don't, I promise you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.
Anger
21 You know our ancestors were told, “Do not murder” and “A murderer must be brought to trial.” 22 But I promise you if you are angry with someone, you will have to stand trial. If you call someone a fool, you will be taken to court. And if you say that someone is worthless, you will be in danger of the fires of hell.
23 So if you are about to place your gift on the altar and remember that someone is angry with you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. Make peace with that person, then come back and offer your gift to God.
25 Before you are dragged into court, make friends with the person who has accused you of doing wrong. If you don't, you will be handed over to the judge and then to the officer who will put you in jail. 26 I promise you will not get out until you have paid the last cent you owe.
Marriage
27 You know the commandment which says, “Be faithful in marriage.” 28 But I tell you if you look at another woman and want her, you are already unfaithful in your thoughts. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to end up in hell. 30 If your right hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Divorce
(Matthew 19.9Mark 10.11Mark 12Luke 16.18)31 You have been taught that a man who divorces his wife must write out divorce papers for her. 32 But I tell you not to divorce your wife unless she has committed some terrible sexual sin. If you divorce her, you will cause her to be unfaithful, just as any man who marries her is guilty of taking another man's wife.
Promises
33 You know our ancestors were told, “Don't use the Lord's name to make a promise unless you are going to keep it.” 34 But I tell you not to swear by anything when you make a promise! Heaven is God's throne, so don't swear by heaven. 35 The earth is God's footstool, so don't swear by the earth. Jerusalem is the city of the great king, so don't swear by it. 36 Don't swear by your own head. You cannot make one hair white or black. 37 When you make a promise, say only “Yes” or “No.” Anything else comes from the devil.
Revenge
(Luke 6.29Luke 30)38 You know you have been taught, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” 39 But I tell you not to try to get even with a person who has done something to you. When someone slaps your right cheek, turn and let that person slap your other cheek. 40 If someone sues you for your shirt, give up your coat as well. 41 If a soldier forces you to carry his pack one kilometer, carry it two kilometers. 42 When people ask you for something, give it to them. When they want to borrow money, lend it to them.
Love
(Luke 6.27Luke 28Luke 32-36)43 You have heard people say, “Love your neighbors and hate your enemies.” 44 But I tell you to love your enemies and pray for anyone who mistreats you. 45 Then you will be acting like your Father in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both good and bad people. And he sends rain for the ones who do right and for the ones who do wrong. 46 If you love only those people who love you, will God reward you for this? Even tax collectors love their friends. 47 If you greet only your friends, what's so great about this? Don't even unbelievers do that? 48 But you must always act like your Father in heaven.
