Ījabs: jūsu atziņas ir kā pelni
1 Lūk, visu redzēja mana acs,
auss dzirdēja un saprata.
2 Ko jūs zināt, to es arī –
nemaz neesmu zemāks par jums!
3 Patiesi, uz Visuvareno runāt,
ar Dievu tiesāties gribu!
4 Patiesi, jūs esat melu kūlēji,
viltus dziednieki visi jūs.
5 Kaut būtu klusu cietušies –
tas būtu gudrāk priekš jums!
6 Dzirdiet jel manu liecību,
manu lūpu sūdzības uzklausiet!
7 Vai dēļ Dieva runāsiet melus
un viņa dēļ runāsiet viltu?
8 Vai viņa dēļ liekuļosiet
un Dieva vietā prāvosieties?
9 Ko tad, ja viņš jūs pārbaudīs –
vai pievilsiet viņu, kā cilvēku viļ?
10 Tiesādams tiesās viņš visus jūs,
kas viņa dēļ slepus liekuļo!
11 Vai viņa diženums jūs nebiedē,
vai viņa priekšā neuznāk bailes?
12 Jūsu pamācības ir kā pīšļi,
jūsu bruņas kā no māla.
13 Stāviet klusu, lai es runāju –
lai nāk pār mani vai kas!
14 Kam savu miesu man zobos ņemt
un savu dvēseli likt delnā?
15 Redzi, viņš mani nokaus – cerības nav!
Viņa priekšā es aizstāvēšos.
16 Arī tas būtu glābiņš man,
jo viņa priekšā netiek bezgodis!
Ījabs gatavs aizstāvēties Dieva priekšā
17 Klausīt klausieties manus vārdus,
lai mana vēsts jūsu ausīs!
18 Redzi, es gatavs tiesai –
es zinu, ka taisnība man!
19 Kurš uzveiks mani tiesā –
tad es apklusīšu un miršu!
20 Tik divas lietas man nedari,
tad tava vaiga nevairīšos –
21 savu roku neliec man klāt,
un tavas briesmas lai nebiedē mani!
22 Tad sauc, un es atbildēšu,
vai – es runāšu, un tu atsaucies!
23 Cik man vainu un grēku?
Manu noziegumu un grēku atklāj tu man!
24 Kādēļ savu vaigu tu slēp
un turi mani par naidnieku?
25 Vai vēja nēsātu lapu tu drebini?
Vai sausas pelavas tu trenkā? –
26 Rūgtiem vārdiem tu pārmet man,
jaunības noziegumus dod man līdzi,
27 siekstā tu liec man kājas,
tu uzraugi visas manas takas,
manu kāju pēdas tu iezīmē!
28 Cilvēks kā trūdi irst,
kā drēbe, ko saēd kodes!

13 Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will . 14 Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? 15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. 17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. 18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. 19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee. 21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid. 22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. 24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy? 25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble? 26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth. 27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet. 28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
